Great Sandy Strait

News | 10-11-21

70 km long, the Great Sandy Strait separates mainland Queensland from World Heritage-listed Fraser Island due to its complex landscapes of mangroves, sandbanks, intertidal sand, mud islands, salt marshes and seagrass beds.

It is home to important breeding habitat for fish, crustaceans, dugongs, dolphins and sea turtles.
